232 years after the signing of the declaration, 145 years after the Emancipation Proclamation, 54 years after Brown v. Board of Education, and 44 years after the Civil Rights Act, on November 4, 2008, American citizens moved beyond our shameful history and elected the very best candidate for President of the United States, an African-American man named Barack Obama. This is a terrific moment in history, a proud moment, a demarcation line that from here on out always marks the "after."
What is more inspiring, more hopeful, is that for the first time in eight years, we will have a president who is intellectual, educated, and can actually string words together to form not only a coherent sentence, but a thoughtful one. I feel so blissfully relieved!!!
